Today February 24th we ventured out for a mid afternoon walk in sub zero temps but clear and sunny sky's. The trees were still heavy with snow from the day before making for a winter wonderland landscape.
Last evening we joined Hugh and Dorothy for an evening of good food and friendly conversation at our favourite diner in Port Elgin despite a 2-3 hour power failure in town. This morning as has been the custom of late Hugh, cleo and I went out for an early morning walk, unfortunately the roads were very slippery and we had to be very careful and despite that we still slipped and slided quite a bit, but we're all returned safe and sound. This evening Hugh and Dorothy joined us for a steak dinner and cream pie dessert, another great meal with a very nice couple.
Below are 3 pictures of the snow on the trees and a very rough lake

Newest Addition to our Family
This morning my daughter and I drove to Gravenhurst to pick up the newest addition to our camping equipment. It is a 15.8ft Mattawa carbon fibre canoe. Weighing in at only 33lbs it is considered an ultra light weight. The way the light weight is achieved is primarily in its construction and the use of carbon fibre and Kevlar fusion to make a one piece canoe with an integrated gunnel system. We are very happy to finally have a canoe of our own. It will come in very handy this fall as we plan an extended stay in Algonquin park this fall and hopefully we will be able to sneak up on a moose or two
