Monday May 14th. We arrived in this beautiful city early in the morning and after breakfast were off on our guided tour of the city in a fairly large group. The ship provides each passenger each passenger with a quiet vox headset that enables you to hear everything the guide is saying even if you are 10-20 yards away. It is really something that every guided tour or hike should have in our country as well. I think the pictures will speak for themselves. We returned to the ship for lunch and then set off again in the afternoon to explore the city on our own. We were able to find a place to purchase so souvenirs for the folks back home and we were able to sample the local ice cream as well.
One of the main attractions here is 'The Dom' which is a centuries old church of massive proportions that took many hundred of years to complete as the city went through some tough economic periods over the years. The city is divided by the river Rhine which is one of the rivers we are traveling on but which is also a major transportation route for goods and people. We have been very impressed with the amount of train train traffic along the river routes and the amount of ships that we pass on our travels.
